The City Council has scheduled a work meeting on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 6:00 PM at City Hall to speak with the Chamber of Commerce.

The County Court has just issued a burn ban for Prairie County. It is effective immediately, 09-19-2025. During the burn ban, ALL outdoor burning is prohibited. Burns done in violation of the Judge’s order may result in criminal citations, violation of the burn ban is a misdemeanor offense.

The burn ban will remain in effect until rescinded by the County Court.

ATTENTION WATER CUSTOMERS!! The Fire Department will be flushing water lines within city limits September 15, 2025, at 6:00 PM.

ATTENTION WATER CUSTOMERS!!! City Employees will start flushing lines in the city of Des Arc over the next few days. If you have discolored water, please allow your faucets to run for a few minutes to clear out your lines as well. We appreciate your patience.

ATTENTION WATER CUSTOMERS!! There is a leak on Claire Street in Des Arc. Workers are working to fix it as soon as possible. Also, workers got the pump back up and running to correct the recent issue at Centerpoint. If there are any further issues, please call the office at 870-256-4316. We appreciate your patience.

ATTENTION WATER CUSTOMERS!!! Des Arc Utilities is aware of the issue in the Centerpoint area. Employees have been working to locate and correct the issue. Council Members Nicole Fisher, Rusty Smith, Keith Knupp, Dooby Moore, Joey York and Doug Estes have scheduled a work meeting for Monday, August 25th at 5:30 pm at the City Hall Municipal Courtroom. This meeting will be to only discuss water issues regarding the City of Des Arc. The public is welcome to attend.

SPECIAL CALLED COUNCIL MEETING tonight, August 12, 2025, at 6:00 PM to pass amendment to a Resolution for a grant.

ATTENTION WATER CUSTOMERS!! Des Arc City employees will be flushing water lines from the 4-Mile Corner to Hazen and Carlisle areas beginning Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Due to the size of the system and the current status of Water Plant repairs, this process could take up to 3 weeks. Customers may experience discolored water and low pressure. If you have discolored water, run all faucets to flush your lines until it clears. If you have questions or concerns, please call the office at (870) 256-4316.

DES ARC UTILITIES employees will be doing routine inspection and maintenance of gas and water lines and meters, if you see city employees around and/or on your property. The City does enter upon the premises during reasonable times for the purpose of servicing its equipment, reading meters, discontinuing service, removing service pipes and/or meters or any other necessary reason and incidental to the conduct of its business as a distributor.

Effective 2 PM on today's date July 9, 2025 the City of Des Arc Water Department mandatory boil order has been lifted. You can resume to your normal use of the water.

ATTENTION WATER CUSTOMERS!!! The Arkansas Department of health has confirmed the 'BOIL WATER' notice issued by Des Arc Waterworks for the entire system. This order was issued as an emergency measure because of the possibility that contaminated water may have entered the distribution system as a result of an inadequate disinfectant level. Under the 'BOIL WATER' order, all affected customers must be advised that the water is considered unsafe for human consumption, and water used for drinking or food preparation must be boiled briskly for one (1) minute prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice. This 'Emergency BOIL WATER Notice' will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected, an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system, and a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink. The Boil Water Order was due to inadequate disinfectant level. New samples are being taken immediately and the City will update as soon as we receive the sample results. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Due to availability, July's Regular Scheduled Council Meeting has been moved from July 15th to July 22, 2025 at 6:00 PM.

If anyone is aware of any street lights or poles that need repair, please call the office at 870-256-4316 by Friday, June 27, 2025. The City will be meeting with Entergy on Friday and would like to make sure we get all of them addressed. Thank you.

Des Arc Utilities has located the leak in the Hickory Plains area and are hard at work to fix it. The leak will be fixed before the day is over. We apologize for the inconvenience and understand the frustration this has caused. Thank you for your patience.

Des Arc Utilities has been working throughout the day trying to locate a major water leak in the Hickory Plains area. Arkansas Rural Water Association has been called to come and assist in locating it. The leak has still not been found. We will continue to work to try to find it and fix it as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience.

A Work Meeting will take place at City Hall tonight, June 3, 2025, at 6:00 PM.

THE CITY OF DES ARC IS CURRENTLY TAKING BIDS FOR MOWING THE WATER TOWERS AND PUMP STATIONS. BIDS WILL BE OPENED DURING THE COUNCIL MEETING ON TUESDAY, APRIL 15, 2025, AT 6 PM. ATTENTION CITY WATER CUSTOMERS!! There has been a water main break in town and water has had to be shut off in order for workers to repair the main. They are working to get this fixed as soon as possible.
