DES ARC UTILITIES employees will be doing routine inspection and maintenance of gas and water lines and meters, if you see city employees around and/or on your property. The City does enter upon the premises during reasonable times for the purpose of servicing its equipment, reading meters, discontinuing service, removing service pipes and/or meters or any other necessary reason and incidental to the conduct of its business as a distributor.
Effective 2 PM on today's date July 9, 2025 the City of Des Arc Water Department mandatory boil order has been lifted. You can resume to your normal use of the water.
ATTENTION WATER CUSTOMERS!!! The Arkansas Department of health has confirmed the 'BOIL WATER' notice issued by Des Arc Waterworks for the entire system. This order was issued as an emergency measure because of the possibility that contaminated water may have entered the distribution system as a result of an inadequate disinfectant level. Under the 'BOIL WATER' order, all affected customers must be advised that the water is considered unsafe for human consumption, and water used for drinking or food preparation must be boiled briskly for one (1) minute prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice. This 'Emergency BOIL WATER Notice' will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected, an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system, and a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink. The Boil Water Order was due to inadequate disinfectant level. New samples are being taken immediately and the City will update as soon as we receive the sample results. Due to availability, July's Regular Scheduled Council Meeting has been moved from July 15th to July 22, 2025 at 6:00 PM.

Des Arc Utilities has located the leak in the Hickory Plains area and are hard at work to fix it. The leak will be fixed before the day is over. We apologize for the inconvenience and understand the frustration this has caused. Thank you for your patience.
Des Arc Utilities has been working throughout the day trying to locate a major water leak in the Hickory Plains area. Arkansas Rural Water Association has been called to come and assist in locating it. The leak has still not been found. We will continue to work to try to find it and fix it as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience.

ATTENTION CITY WATER CUSTOMERS!! There has been a water main break in town and water has had to be shut off in order for workers to repair the main. They are working to get this fixed as soon as possible.

With the major power outage overnight along with water main leaks, you may experience discolored water or low water pressure. If you do, please call the main office so that we can send someone out to check the lines. We do not know which lines are affected if we do not get any calls. Attention Utility Customers: We have been emptying, cleaning, and repainting Hickory Plains and Des Arc water towers and will be working on them throughout December as well. This may cause some discoloration in the water. If you are experiencing this, leave the water running for a few minutes to clear out your lines. If this does not help, please call the office at (870) 256-4316 and we will try to get this cleared.
