The City of Des Arc would like to provide an update and extend our sincerest apologies for the recent water service disruptions and issues experienced by our residents.
This past Sunday, the water treatment plant experienced a six-hour power outage, which required employees to operate the plant manually. Our dedicated staff worked diligently to maintain safe and stable operations during this time.
Additionally, following last weekend’s storm, a tree caused significant damage to a main water line in Hickory Plains. Locating and repairing the break took approximately 38 hours due to the extent of the damage and challenging conditions. We deeply regret the inconvenience this caused and appreciate your patience and understanding.
We want our community to know that we are currently in the process of remodeling and updating the water treatment plant to improve long-term reliability and service. A new booster pump station is also under construction at the Four Mile Corner to help improve system pressure and distribution.
We are currently awaiting the arrival of parts and contractor availability to complete necessary repairs to existing filters and pumps. These upgrades will allow us to transition to a more efficient chemical treatment system. While these changes are in progress, our employees continue to work tirelessly to keep the system operating safely and effectively.
We understand how important consistent water service is, and we are doing everything possible to expedite these repairs and improvements. We kindly ask for your continued patience during this time.
If you are experiencing water-related issues, please contact the City Office at 870-256-4316 immediately. We can only respond to problems that are reported, and your communication helps us address issues more efficiently.
Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Outside of normal business hours, please contact the non-emergency line at the Sheriff's Office at 870-256-4137. They will contact the on-call employee to respond.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to provide you with a safer, more reliable water system.
Sincerely,
Mayor Roger Scott
